What can RPA (Robotic Process Automation) do for you? Those of us who have been in the industry; know it’s impact, what about those who want to know the impact. We have a plethora of RPA solutions that leverage machine learning, AI, IPA, NLP, Semantic Analyses, Efficiency Optimization.
Just think about that from a large impact point of scale model. The real-time optical character recognition (OCR) with scan can determine your next level of maturity development. I will admit, we have come a long way from using OCR. Depending on the flavor of software you use, they will argue their technology is significantly better. As a generic example, you have what is referenced as a bot used to scan for character recognition in an eDiscovery capacity (email collection scanning) or even a large sub-folder layer of transaction documents display information from back-office needs (i.e. ERP system). When there is enough data the process can optimize and improve. It can analyze, match and predict data points. Yet the complexity of knowledge is determine by the maturity of the developmental standards and process structure.
However when you are starting, it is a challenge leverage existing process with a maturity model. Companies actually learn more from scorecard assessments on maturity value, then really intend to execute a PoC measure on the process assessed. I’ve bear witness to the cost savings to one of my clients WorkFusion IRS tax validation bot test cases where the savings exceeded $250,000 on the first bot test run. A total of 104 input error were captured during the test phase of the project and reconciliation efforts began before post-production phase started.
There are enormous implications and uses RPA. Bots don’t necessarily need to be implemented to see the maturity value of your most recent use case candidate for RPA. I will leave you with this, the primary goal of RPA is to understand the program maintains a governance centralized to the maturity of a service provider’s strategy because it impacts most of the business process identified. A more mature way to utilize RPA, is looking beyond replacing transaction FTE(s) and instead considering how RPA can augment and extend the capabilities of specialized roles including cognitive properties.
